It comes in four styles: D with a bottom door, GD with an all-glass door, LS with an open log store in the base, and GLS with a glass door and open log store. Older, draughty or high-ceilinged rooms need more, and a heat-loss check by your installer gives the right answer.

The Melody is 1105mm tall, 508mm across and weighs 105kg. It needs only 150mm clearance to combustibles at the sides and rear and can stand on a 12mm hearth, which makes it easier to place than many stoves.

Sizes and options

Style

Smoke Exempt

D, bottom door

Standard

D, bottom door

Smoke exempt (SE)

GD, all-glass door

Standard

GD, all-glass door

Smoke exempt (SE)

LS, open log store

Standard

LS, open log store

Smoke exempt (SE)

GLS, glass front and open log store

Standard

GLS, glass front and open log store

Smoke exempt (SE)

Specifications

Brand

Opus

Heat output

5kW nominal

Efficiency

77.4%

Fuel

Wood only

Dimensions (H x W x D)

1105 x 508 x 508mm

Weight

105kg

Material

Welded steel body, cast iron grate

Flue

150mm, top or rear outlet (rear flue centre 955mm high; top flue centre 254mm from back)

Maximum log length

330mm

Clearance to combustibles

150mm sides, 150mm rear

Hearth

Can stand on a 12mm hearth

External air

External air connection available

Ecodesign

Ecodesign ready

Smoke control

SE version approved for burning wood in smoke control areas (Firepower); standard version is not

Installation and safety

It must be installed by a HETAS-registered installer or signed off by Building Control, and a carbon monoxide alarm is required in the room.
