Ekofires covers almost every fireplace situation: a brick chimney, a shallow pre-cast flue, no flue at all, or no gas. That makes it a good place to start if you know what flue you have and want a fire to match.

Ekofires sells its fires under the eko name through independent retailers across the UK, with a range of gas and electric fires designed for modern and traditional rooms. It publishes an efficiency rating for each fire, which is why each gas model's product page gives its stated efficiency and gross heat output. Ekofires gives a manufacturer's warranty on every fire; see each product page for the terms.

The inset fires run on natural gas; the wall mounted 5010 and 5060 are available for natural gas or LPG. Flueless models need a minimum room size of 23 to 35 cubic metres, depending on model, and a 100cm² permanent vent.
Ekofires electric fires
- 1060 and 1070 Reflections: 16 inch LED inset fires, up to 2kW, 114mm deep, with switch controls; the 1060 has spacers for fully inset, semi inset or flat-to-wall fitting.
- 1011: portrait wall fire in curved black glass, 0.75kW or 1.5kW, with remote.
- 1110: landscape wall fire in mirrored glass, 0.9kW or 1.8kW, full remote.
- 1120: 915mm wide, wall or stand, up to 1.5kW, thermostat, timer, remote and four flame settings.
Flueless fires explained
Ekofires describes its flueless gas fires as 100% efficient, because no heat is lost up a flue. A catalytic converter above the flames turns carbon monoxide into carbon dioxide and water vapour, which stay in the room. In return, each model needs a minimum room size (23 cubic metres for the 5010 and 5060, 27 for the 5510 and 35 for the 6010 stove) and a 100cm² permanent vent, and outputs are modest. Ekofires states the 5510 is not suitable as a primary heat source. See flueless gas fires.
Controls
Ekofires gas fires come with manual rotary control, FingerSlide slide control (the 3015, 3065 and 4015) or a remote (the 3020 remote version, natural gas only). The mains-free ultrasonic remote upgrade suits selected inset models and adjusts the flame once the pilot has been lit by hand. The electric wall fires have remotes; the 1120 adds a thermostat, timer and four flame settings.
Choosing an Ekofires fire
- Brick chimney, traditional look: the full depth 3060, 3065 or 3090.
- Pre-cast flue or shallow opening: a slimline 3010, 3015, 3020, 4010 or 4015.
- Lowest running cost: the glass-fronted 4010 or 4015.
- No chimney: a flueless 5010, 5060, 5510 or 6010, or an electric fire.
- No gas: the 1060 or 1070 inset, or a wall mounted electric fire.
Every Ekofires gas fire must be installed by a Gas Safe registered engineer and serviced every year, with a carbon monoxide alarm in the room.
