Buying guide
Buschbeck is a German manufacturer, and its masonry BBQs are built to stay put: pre-cast, steel-reinforced concrete sections that stack on a solid base and become a permanent part of the garden. This page covers the range we sell, how to choose a model and what each needs.
About Buschbeck
The masonry BBQs we sell are made in Germany, arrive in pre-cast sections with adhesive and assembly instructions, and have a through-coloured finish that needs no painting or rendering. Buschbeck lists them as TUV/GS safety certified. Each has a 54 x 34cm chrome cooking grill that sits at four heights, and most burn charcoal for cooking and logs afterwards as an outdoor fireplace. Buschbeck says its BBQs are ready to use 24 hours after assembly.

Chimney models
White and terracotta, white and brown, or white quartz, with copper or stainless steel mantel inserts.
How to choose
- Height. A 930mm grill bar for a low profile, or a chimney model around 2m to lift smoke above head height.
- Fireplace too? Most models take logs after cooking. The Carmen with side table is charcoal only.
- Lid? Only the Zurich has a hood.
- Finish. Choose a colour and mantel insert to suit your brick and paving. All are through-coloured.
Buschbeck accessories
- A double-sided cast iron cooking grid, 54 x 34cm and about 4.5kg, for searing.
- A cast iron plancha, 54 x 34cm, for fish, eggs and vegetables.
- A spare chrome cooking grill that fits all Buschbeck masonry BBQs and grill bars.
- A stainless steel fire grate and ash pan, 46 x 30cm.
- The full barbecue cover for standard models and the grill bar cover for the Venedig and Luzern.
- The Camp Chef Artisan pizza oven insert, supplied in the UK by Buschbeck, which sits on the grill.
Base, delivery and assembly
At 360kg to 510kg, a Buschbeck needs a concrete slab or well-laid paving on a compacted sub-base, slightly larger than the footprint and level both ways. It arrives on a pallet at the kerbside; check the route to the garden and have at least two people to lift the sections. Our guide to building a masonry BBQ covers each step.
Looking after a Buschbeck
A Buschbeck needs little care. Brush out cold ash after each use, brush and oil the grill, and freshen the through-coloured finish with a stiff brush and water rather than paint or acid cleaners. Never throw cold water on a hot firebox. Before winter, clear the ash, let the BBQ dry and fit the cover, and after a long break light a gentle fire first. See masonry BBQ care.
