A Carron curved front hearth gives a freestanding stove a neat, non-combustible base to stand on. Every version is 900mm wide: black granite, travertine and glass at 750mm deep, plus a 1050mm deep travertine where you need more depth in front of the stove.

Will it suit your space?
Compare 900mm wide by 750mm or 1050mm deep with your stove's footprint and the hearth extension its installation manual asks for in front and at the sides. Approved Document J sets minimum hearth sizes and thicknesses, and some stoves cannot stand on a 12mm hearth, so check the manual before choosing glass. The stone hearths weigh 59kg to 84kg, so plan for two people to carry them.

Installation and safety
The hearth has to suit the stove standing on it. Your HETAS-registered installer, or Building Control, will confirm the size and thickness required for your stove under Approved Document J.
Questions
What sizes are available?
All four are 900mm wide with a curved front. The black granite, glass and standard travertine hearths are 750mm deep; the larger travertine hearth is 1050mm deep.
Is a 12mm glass hearth thick enough for my stove?
Only if the stove manufacturer says the stove can stand on a 12mm hearth and the floor beneath is suitable. Check your stove manual and Approved Document J with your installer.
