The Firepits UK Half Moon BBQ Rack sits across half of a Firepits UK fire pit bowl. You cook on one side and feed the fire on the open side, raking embers under the rack as you need them. Choose a 5mm round steel mesh, all bar or plate and bar cooking surface, in sizes to fit 50cm to 90cm bowls (60cm to 90cm for the all bar).
Why choose the Half Moon BBQ Rack
- Splits the fire: burn logs on one side, cook over embers on the other.
- Mesh: a 5mm round steel mesh grill with ball ends.
- All bar: strong 5mm round steel bars, with side handles on the 70cm, 80cm and 90cm racks.
- Plate and bar: half solid plate and half bars, so you can fry and sear on the plate and grill on the bars over the same fire, for vegetables, eggs and fish as well as meat.
- The plate and bar rack can be slid by its knobs (wearing gloves) over hotter flames when needed.
- Mesh and plate and bar racks fit 50cm to 90cm bowls; all bar racks fit 60cm to 90cm.

Installation and safety
Steel cookware gets very hot over a fire, so handle it with heat-resistant gloves. Firepits UK oils its cooking accessories for transit: heat the item over the fire before first use and wash it, then after each use wash, dry and wipe it with a little cooking oil (not olive oil). Any rust can be brushed off with a wire brush and the item re-oiled.
Questions
Which size do I need?
Choose the diameter of your fire pit bowl. The rack is wider than the bowl so it rests on the rim; the width and depth of each size are in the sizes table. Firepits UK has not yet published the dimensions of the 50cm plate and bar rack.
Does it need seasoning?
Yes. Heat it over the fire and wash it before first use, then after each clean wash, dry and wipe it with a little cooking oil, not olive oil. For the mesh rack, Firepits UK recommends heating, washing, drying and oiling it several times before first use.
