The Woolly Mammoth Mk2 is a cast iron and steel multi-fuel stove, exempt for smoke control areas when burning wood logs and Ecodesign compliant. Choose the compact 5 Mk2, the 5 Widescreen Mk2 with a wider firebox and glass, or the 8 Mk2 for larger and open-plan rooms, giving 4.6kW to 8.2kW on wood. Each comes with a hand-painted door in black, grey, red or cream.

About this product

Will it suit your space?

As a rule of thumb, an average room needs roughly 1kW for every 14 cubic metres, so 4.6kW on wood suits about 64 cubic metres (around 27 square metres with a 2.4m ceiling) and 8.2kW about 115 cubic metres (around 48 square metres). Older, draughty or high-ceilinged rooms need more, and a heat-loss check by your installer gives the right answer.

Check the sizes table below for the dimensions, output and maximum log length of each model. Woolly Mammoth gives 300mm clearance to combustibles at the rear, and 400mm at the sides on the 5 Mk2 and 5 Widescreen Mk2 or 300mm on the 8 Mk2.

Installation and safety

It must be installed by a HETAS-registered installer or signed off by Building Control, and a carbon monoxide alarm is required in the room.

Questions

Can I burn wood in a smoke control area?

Yes. It is exempt for use in smoke control areas in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland when burning wood logs, and it meets Ecodesign emission limits. The smoke control slide plate supplied with the 5 Mk2 and 5 Widescreen Mk2 (or the tertiary air stop on the 8 Mk2) must be fitted for use in a smoke control area.

What flue does it need?

It has a 125mm (5 inch) flue collar that can be used from the top or the rear, and needs a suitable chimney or flue system.

What clearances and hearth does it need?

Woolly Mammoth gives 300mm to combustibles at the rear on every model, and 400mm at the sides on the 5 Mk2 and 5 Widescreen Mk2 but 300mm at the sides on the 8 Mk2. All are suitable for a 12mm hearth.

Can I raise it to make a log store?

Yes. 150mm and 300mm leg extensions are available, and it can be fitted with a direct air adaptor for an external air supply.

How is the Widescreen different from the standard Woolly Mammoth 5?

It has a wider firebox and glass. It is 475mm wide against 420mm and takes logs up to 330mm long against 250mm.

Free delivery to England and Wales. Standard items usually arrive in 3 to 7 working days; large and heavy items in 3 to 10 working days, delivered to the kerbside and often on a pallet. The courier normally contacts you to book a day. Scotland and Northern Ireland charges are shown at checkout.

Returns

You have 30 days from delivery to change your mind, with no restocking fees. Returns after day 14 must be unused, uninstalled and in the original packaging. If we collect, it costs £90 for a single pallet item or £150 for two-person and multi-pallet deliveries; garden buildings, and collections from Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Highlands and islands, are priced before booking and never cost more than £250. Items made to your specification are excluded, and faulty or damaged goods are collected free.

5 year manufacturer's warranty. The manufacturer's warranty terms apply, which can include registering the product, professional installation and annual servicing. Your rights under the Consumer Rights Act are not affected.

Installation and safety

In England and Wales, installing a solid fuel appliance is notifiable building work: use a HETAS registered installer, or apply to Building Control before the work starts. Scotland and Northern Ireland have their own building standards.
Building Regulations require a carbon monoxide alarm in the room when a solid fuel appliance is installed.
