The Box D is a square fire pit from Firepits UK with two rectangular swing arm BBQ racks, so you can grill on one side and keep food moving on the other. It is made from 3mm British steel in the Firepits UK workshop in Monmouthshire, measures 80 x 80cm overall with a 60 x 60cm fire bowl, and stands 50cm high.

Will it suit your space?

The Box D takes up an 80 x 80cm footprint and stands 50cm high, which suits a seating circle of garden chairs on a patio, gravel area or paved terrace. Allow space around it for people to move between the chairs and the racks while you cook.

If you want it to double as a table when the fire is out, the matching Box D Table Top Lid is sold separately.

Installation and safety

Cook over embers: Firepits UK advises against leaving swing arm and tripod racks over intense flames for long periods. Use it outdoors only, level on stone, brick, gravel or a paving slab (Firepits UK notes grass underneath may scorch), well away from anything a spark could reach. Burn dry, seasoned logs or charcoal, never house coal. Keep water to hand, supervise children, wear gloves to handle racks, and put the fire out or the lid on before you leave it. The bare steel weathers to a rusty patina, which Firepits UK says does not affect its use or life.

Questions

Does it come with a lid?

No. The Box D Table Top Lid is a separate item. It keeps rain out of the bowl, snuffs the fire and turns the pit into a table.

Can I take the BBQ racks off?

Yes. Both swing arm racks lift out, so you can enjoy an open fire after cooking and clean the racks separately.

What can I burn in it?

Firepits UK recommends well-seasoned dry logs or charcoal. Do not burn house coal.
