The Adam Eltham is a 45 inch pure white fireplace suite with LED downlights and a reversible back panel, black on one side and pure white on the other. Every option fits flat to the wall, stands 1000mm high, 1150mm wide and 350mm deep, and needs no chimney or recess. You choose the fire: the black Colorado bioethanol fire (up to 3kW, real flame), the brushed steel Colorado electric fire (1 to 2kW) or the black Oslo electric fire (1kW to 2kW, with remote control).

About this product

Will it suit your space?

Allow a clear, flat wall at least 1150mm wide. As a rough heating guide, 1kW warms about 14 cubic metres, so the 2kW electric fires suit a room of around 28 cubic metres; older, draughty or high-ceilinged rooms need more, and a proper heat-loss check gives the right figure for your room. With an electric fire, have a socket nearby and keep the plug reachable after fitting. The Colorado bioethanol fire needs a minimum room volume of 63 cubic metres (length x width x ceiling height) and ventilation of at least 0.5 air changes an hour, which trickle vents, door gaps or briefly opening a window usually provide. It is tested as a decorative appliance, so check heat loss if you need it to heat the room.

Installation and safety

Assemble the suite and stand it against a flat wall following the instruction manuals, which give the clearances and wall requirements.

Electric fires: plug the fire into a wall socket. The plug comes from the left-hand side of the fire. Never plug it in behind the surround or the fire: the plug must stay accessible after installation so the fire can be disconnected in an emergency. If the fire is hardwired, have the electrical work done by a qualified electrician.

Bioethanol fire: use only liquid bioethanol of 96% purity or higher, never gel fuel. Fill the burner no higher than its maximum level, wipe up any spill and let the area dry fully before lighting, and keep the room ventilated.

Questions

Does it need a chimney or recess?

No. The suite fits flat against the wall. The electric fires plug into a wall socket, and the bioethanol fire is a flueless decorative appliance, though the room must meet its minimum volume and ventilation.

Can I change the back panel colour?

Yes. The back panel is reversible, so you can fit it with the black side or the pure white side facing out.

Does it have lights?

Yes. The surround has LED downlights.

Does it arrive assembled?

No, it is not supplied fully assembled.

Can I use the flame effect without heat?

On the electric fires, yes. The first setting is the flame effect only.

Can I plug it in?

The electric fires plug into a wall socket. The plug must stay accessible after installation so the fire can be isolated in an emergency, so it must not be plugged in anywhere behind the fire or surround. The bioethanol fire burns liquid fuel.

Does it come with a remote?

The Oslo electric fire has a remote control with a 7-day timer, plus a thermostat. The Colorado electric fire has manual controls with a thermostat.

What fuel does the bioethanol fire use?

Only liquid bioethanol with a purity of 96% or higher. It is not suitable for gel fuel.
