The BeefEater 1200 Series is a gas barbecue with cast iron burners and a porcelain-coated cast iron grill and hotplate, so you can grill and fry at once, under a hood for roasting with the lid down. Choose the 1200E in black porcelain enamel or the 1200S in stainless steel, with 3, 4 or 5 burners (12kW to 20kW, 3,072cm² to 4,608cm² of cooking area). Built-in versions go into an outdoor kitchen, brick surround or BBQ island; trolley versions stand on a patio on their own cabinet trolley and add a 4kW side burner.

Why choose the BeefEater 1200 Series

  • 12kW to 20kW from 3, 4 or 5 cast iron main burners (BeefEater's stated main barbecue output).
  • 3,072cm² to 4,608cm² cooking area split between a grill and hotplate in porcelain-coated cast iron.
  • 1200E in black porcelain enamel or 1200S in stainless steel; built-in versions have a double-skin hood with a viewing window and a seam-welded frame.
  • Trolley versions add a 4kW side burner for a wok or pan, and a powder-coated cabinet trolley with stainless steel doors and space inside for an LPG cylinder.
  • LPG or mains gas: supplied for LPG, with natural gas conversion kit 95176 available.
  • Warranty of 2 years, plus a further 3 years on the burner box.

About this product

Will it suit your space?

Check the sizes table below for the dimensions and weight of each option.

Built-in versions need a cavity at least 230mm high and 540mm deep (including 20mm rear clearance), with the width set by the burner count, about 75mm free behind for the hood to open and at least 450mm clearance to combustible materials.

For trolley versions, allow room to stand at the controls and open the hood, keep at least 450mm between every side of the barbecue and anything combustible, and keep it clear of fences and overhanging branches.

Installation and safety

Use outdoors only, in a well-ventilated area, with the correct LPG regulator and hose (BeefEater part 96581 for this series). For built-in versions, follow BeefEater's installation guide for the enclosure. Natural gas conversion must be done by a Gas Safe registered engineer.

Questions

What size opening do I need to build it in?

For the built-in versions, a cavity at least 230mm high and 540mm deep (including 20mm rear clearance), with about 75mm free behind for the hood to open and at least 450mm clearance to combustible materials. The cavity width depends on the burner count: 675mm for 3 burners, 825mm for 4 burners and 994mm for 5 burners.

Does it have a side burner?

The trolley versions do. A 4kW side burner sits on the right, separate from the main cooking area. The built-in versions do not list one.

What size gas bottle does it take?

An LPG cylinder of at least 6kg. BeefEater's manual says the trolley barbecue is designed for a cylinder of no more than 9kg (up to 315mm across and 460mm high), and that a cylinder of 7kg or more that does not fit inside the trolley must stand on the ground behind the barbecue.

Can it run on mains natural gas?

Yes. It is supplied for LPG, and BeefEater conversion kit 95176 converts it to natural gas. The work must be done by a Gas Safe registered engineer.

What warranty does it come with?

BeefEater Europe's UK and Europe warranty covers the barbecue for 24 months, and the burner box for a further 3 years.

See more built-in gas BBQs and the BeefEater range, or add the BeefEater 1200 and 3000 built-in cover.
