The Ekofires 4010 and 4015 are glass-fronted, high efficiency slimline inset gas fires giving up to 4.0kW (gross) at a stated 90% efficiency, so more of the gas you pay for becomes heat in the room. At 125 mm deep they suit a conventional chimney, a pre-cast flue or a pre-fabricated flue of at least 5 inches. Choose manual rotary control (4010) or FingerSlide top control (4015), then your fret style and trim.

About this product
Will it suit your space?
As a rough guide, allow 1kW of heat for every 14 cubic metres of room volume in an average room, so 4kW suits a room of around 56 cubic metres (about 4.8 x 4.8 m with a 2.4 m ceiling). Older, draughty or high-ceilinged rooms need more, and a heat-loss check by your installer gives the right answer.
Ekofires' installation manual calls for a fireplace opening 400 to 440 mm wide and 550 to 575 mm high. The fascia measures 485 mm wide and 590 mm high.

Installation and safety
A gas fire must be installed by a Gas Safe registered engineer, who will check the chimney or flue, the opening and the ventilation before fitting. The 4010 and 4015 run on natural gas only. Building Regulations call for a carbon monoxide alarm in the same room when a new gas fire is fitted in a home, and Ekofires says a fireguard to BS 8423 must be used where there are children, pets or elderly or infirm people.
Questions
Why is it more efficient than an open-fronted fire?
It is glass-fronted. Ekofires rates the 4010 and 4015 at 81% gross (90% net), compared with 50 to 67% gross for its open-fronted inset fires.
Does it have a remote control?
The 4010 has manual rotary control and the 4015 has FingerSlide top control on the fire. Ekofires does not list a remote for the 4015.
Does it need a chimney or flue?
Yes. It suits a conventional chimney, a pre-cast flue or a pre-fabricated flue of at least 5 inches.
How much heat does it give?
Up to 4.0kW (gross) on full, turning down to 2.8kW, at a stated 90% efficiency.
Can it run on LPG?
No. Ekofires lists the 4010 and 4015 for natural gas only.
