About this product

Will it suit your space?

As a rule of thumb, an average room needs roughly 1kW for every 14 cubic metres, so its 5kW suits about 70 cubic metres (around 29 square metres with a 2.4m ceiling). Older, draughty or high-ceilinged rooms need more, and a heat-loss check by your installer gives the right answer.

The Melody is 1105mm tall, 508mm across and weighs 105kg. It needs only 150mm clearance to combustibles at the sides and rear and can stand on a 12mm hearth, which makes it easier to place than many stoves.

Questions

Can I use it in a smoke control area?

Only the SE version. Firepower lists the SE models as approved for burning wood in smoke control areas; the standard version is not exempt.

What flue does it need?

A 150mm flue, connected at the top or the rear. It can also take its combustion air from outside through the Opus external air kit.

What size logs does it take?

Logs up to 330mm long. It burns wood only.

What do the D, GD, LS and GLS codes mean?

D is Opus's code for the bottom door version. G stands for the glass door, so the GD has an all-glass door plus a bottom door. The LS has an open log store instead, and the GLS a glass door with an open log store.
