This is a boiler stove

Most of its heat goes into your radiators and hot water. It connects to your central heating, so you need a heating engineer as well as a stove installer.

Is it right for you?

  • Chimney: fits into a fireplace opening with a chimney, which will usually need a liner.
  • Fuel: dry logs only.
  • Fitting: must be fitted by a HETAS registered installer, plus a heating engineer for the pipework. Find one by postcode

What you'll need

Everything to get this stove lit

A stove on its own isn't enough. Here's what comes in the box, what else you'll need, and what your installer brings.

In the box

  • The stove and the manufacturer's installation and user manual

You'll also need

  • A carbon monoxide alarm. Required by law in the room with the stove.
  • Stove pipe to connect it to the flue. Your installer will tell you the length.
  • A hearth for it to stand on, if you don't already have one.
  • A load unit for the heating circuit, fitted by your heating engineer.
  • A chimney liner or twin-wall flue. Your installer supplies this.

Your installer brings

A liner sized to the stove, fitted up your chimney, after the chimney has been swept and checked.

Fitting, testing and a certificate showing it meets Building Regulations. Keep it for your home insurer and for when you sell.

A boiler stove also needs a heating engineer to connect it to your radiators and hot water, with the safety parts the stove's manual lists.

Ask for one quote that covers the survey, flue, fitting and certificate. Using someone who isn't HETAS registered? Your local building control must approve the work before you use the stove.

How buying a stove works

About this product

Will it suit your space?

Room heat ranges from 4.4kW (EX12 one sided) to 8.9kW shared between two rooms (EX17 double sided); check the specifications for the room and water output of each option. As a rule of thumb, an average room needs roughly 1kW for every 14 cubic metres. Older, draughty or high-ceilinged rooms need more, and a heat-loss check by your installer gives the right answer.

Woodfire asks for 400mm clearance to combustibles at the rear and sides and 1000mm in front.

Installation and safety

It must be installed by a HETAS-registered installer or signed off by Building Control, and a carbon monoxide alarm is required in the room. A competent heating engineer should design the boiler connection. Woodfire requires a load unit or load valve on the boiler circuit. The 3 year warranty needs installation by a suitably qualified fitter and a load unit or load valve; otherwise it is 1 year.

Questions

What is the difference between the one sided and double sided versions?

The double sided version has glass on both faces so it can sit in a dividing wall. It gives slightly more heat in total, with more heat to the rooms, and is slightly wider and deeper. The specifications give the outputs for each option.

Does it need a chimney or flue?

Yes, a 200mm flue suitable for solid fuel, connected at the top of the stove.

What size logs does it take?

Logs up to 600mm long. Wood and wood briquettes only.
